Education

Royal Television Society award winning music composer Ray Russell visited Leeds Met last week to deliver a number of lectures/seminars to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Ray who is ITV’s composer of the year took time out to answer many student questions, not only relating to music for film and television but other aspects of the music industry as well.

Ray who is a well known guitarist and performer with a string of both playing and writing credits to his name took time out to talk to students about arranging, orchestration, song writing and production issues.

Involvement with Innovation North goes beyond his meeting our students as Ray also took time to talk to staff. Academics were able to draw on his wealth of experience to discuss both curriculum and course development. As Innovation North looks to develop performance and production courses Ray and other industry practitioners like him are getting involved with the course teams to develop new, exciting and relevant ideas.

March sees a visit by the JAMES team to deliver a seminar relating to music industry matters and the future of the recording and production industry. Their views will be eagerly awaited by students and academic alike.
